ZipRecruiter: more than 90% of employers want to see soft skills in a resume

The ZipRecruiter platform presented a report on the prospects of the labor market in 2022, Khabr writes. This report was created for recent university graduates and offers an analysis of the current situation and interests of Western employers. Here are some conclusions:

  • Employers began to reduce the requirements for experience, which allows young specialists to find employment faster. ZipRecruiter notes that 2022 will be an extremely busy year for labor shortages, with two job openings for every unemployed person.
  • The number of vacancies that offer various benefits during employment is increasing, but it is still difficult to get an internship at the company.
  • 6 out of 10 applicants would like to find a remote job, but only 1 out of 10 vacancies provides this type of work.
  • The largest job growth is in arts and entertainment (58% year-over-year, from April 2021 to April 2022), technology (56%) and engineering (43%).
  • For 93% of employers, the presence of soft skills in a future employee is the most important point for making a decision. Companies are looking for an “honest, reliable and willing to learn” specialist.

Communication skills, customer service, planning and time management, as well as independence, flexibility and attention to detail are among the most common soft skills that employers pay attention to.
