According to data provided by W3Techs, WordPress is the most popular CMS, running 64.2% of all sites using content management systems. The second place in this ranking is taken by Shopify with a share of 6.3%, and the third place by Wix with 3.4%. Squarespace and Joomla took the 4th and 5th positions, respectively.
The ranking also shows that 33.1% of all sites analyzed do not use any content management systems tracked by the company. Accordingly, if we consider these data, then the total share of WordPress in this case is 43%.

At the beginning of 2021, according to the results of research by the same company W3Techs, the WordPress platform was used on 39.6% of all sites, and its total share in the CMS market was 64.1%. And in 2018, the results were as follows: 30% of all sites on the Internet worked on WP, while the share of this CMS in the market of content management systems was 60.2%.
Also, in the previous year, a similar rating was compiled in GigaPress. At that time, the company analyzed the 10,000 most visited sites in the Alexa ranking, while among them CMS was mostly not recognized (76.12%), and the share of WordPress was 10.57%.
