The corporation announced the launch of a new antivirus Defender. It has become cross-platform and will be able to protect users from various threats on both mobile devices and computers.
The antivirus is now available to all users of Microsoft 365 Personal and Microsoft 365 Family subscriptions. The set of features differs on different Defender devices. For example, iOS and iPadOS do not have virus protection, but only a set of additional tools to help secure your online presence.
In macOS and Android, it will be a full-fledged antivirus that scans systems for malicious files. In Windows, little will change at all, as the OS already has a built-in antivirus. Defender will only be an add-on that simplifies the interaction with existing system security features.
Microsoft also said that in the future they plan to combine all security products into a single control panel under the auspices of Defender, so that users can control all security measures from one place.
