Description:
The Night Watch is a novel by Russian science fiction writer Sergei Lukyanenko, the first in a series of works about the fictional world of the Others. The action of the novel takes place in modern, at the time of writing, Moscow. In addition to the familiar world of people, there is the world of Others, which include magicians, wizards, werewolves, vampires, witches, witchers and other creatures descended from people, but not referring to them. Others are divided into Light and Dark. Good no longer enters into active confrontation with Evil, but is in dynamic balance with it. To maintain the balance of Light and Darkness, any light magical effect must be balanced by a dark one. Compliance with this order is monitored by specially created organizations of the Others – the Watches. The interests of the Light Ones are represented by the Night Watch, the interests of the Dark Ones by the Day Watch.
