LEMURIA is an action-adventure 3rd person shooter with gunplay, dialogue and numerous cutscenes set against the backdrop of massive street riots and the onset of a deadly epidemic. The gameplay is a classic 3rd person shooter, interrupted by dialogues and activation of hotspots. Weapons, girls, cars, gold, uranium and wads of money – what else? Maybe an SSD drive with stolen digital coins? Not? Well, then the main prize is to get out of all this alive! When civilization begins to collapse and its laws cease to operate, all emerging problems have to be solved with new methods.
The main characters of the game – an unemployed veteran Alex and aspiring spy Kant Anora – start their journey to the African country of Lemuria, each for his own reason, each from his own end of the world, each in his own way. Whom they will become – friends, enemies, lovers – time will tell. On the way to his dream, Alex will have to apply the skills he acquired in the army more than once, and Kant is able to arrange (and most likely arrange) Armageddon when performing any, even the simplest task. The game uses the music of two famous authors – Chris Onyak and John Leonard French. A special mixing system allows the background music to smoothly adapt to changes in gameplay. NPC AI can advance, retreat, shoot from cover, search for first-aid kits and ammunition, unite in groups and scatter in different directions, overcome obstacles and wait out of sight of the enemy. And all this without pre-made triggers, which makes each fight unique and replayable.
The game has a large number of customizable options, we will focus on only a few.
You can independently adjust the duration and intensity of firefights, the degree of protection of the Player and the force of destruction of weapons, or simply select a set of settings from pre-prepared presets.
With a couple of clicks in the settings, the game’s video sequence can be changed from a prim family melodrama to a shamelessly unbridled 80s VHS action movie. The hardness of the image on the screen can vary from a clear TV camera to soft film. The speed of rotation of the camera and its inertia can be changed even during the gameplay, without entering the Main Menu. The player can adjust both the ratio of gunfight time to dialogue time and the difficulty of those gunfights to their preference. It should be noted that in any case, tactical decisions will be more important than the accuracy of shooting. It’s also important to know that this game discourages camping and combats it by increasing visibility and damage taken. The gameplay is made as diverse as possible, and in each new location the player will most likely have to look for new tactics. With the correct settings, the game will move to the next stage 10 seconds before the current stage gets bored.
In addition to uncompromising skirmishes and rescuing the next “demoiselle en détresse”, the player will find a fair amount of stealth and a fantasy-style immersion into the depths of Kant’s subconscious mind that leads into an illusory reality. This game is an elegant entertainment for several evenings, giving you the opportunity to shoot, talk, wander through the magical jungle and maybe do something else …
